Good News for Sci-Fi GhostHunters Viewers

March 22, 2007 at 11:00 pm (Blogroll, Fox sisters, Stephen King, TAPS, demons, ghost hunters, ghost hunting, ghosts, hauntings)

Ghost Hunters Renewed

Ghost Hunters, SCI FI Channel’s popular reality series, returns with all-new episodes in its fourth season next year, the channel announced at its upfront press event in New York on March 21. Paranormal plumbers Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson will deliver 13 episodes of their investigations, exploring a range of bizarre occurrences that will challenge the most hard-boiled of skeptics.

Ghost Hunters will round out its third season with six extra episodes set to premiere this spring and an additional six slated for debut in the fall.

The 2006 season of Ghost Hunters ranked as the highest-rated and most-watched season in household ratings and all key demographics.

The one-hour weekly reality series follows a group of real-life “ghostbusters” as they investigate haunted houses and establishments throughout the country. Ghost Hunters has featured speaking entities, mysteriously moving furniture, ghostly visages and a healthy dose of squabbling among the investigators.

Ghost Hunters is produced in association with Craig Piligian’s Pilgrim Films and Television. Piligian and Thomas Thayer serve as executive producers.

Fox Sisters

July 22, 2006 at 5:05 pm (Blogroll, Fox sisters, ghost hunting, spirituality)

I’ve noticed a lot people are interested in the Fox sister’s article here. Honestly I’m pleasantly surprised. I didn’t realize so many people were even aware of the sisters. The reason I’m writing is because while most manuscripts and articles make a big fuss over Margaret’s “confession” that the whole thing was a hoax, I don’t buy it.  I find it highly incredible that a girl cracking her toes would sound like rappings on the walls, floors, ceilings etc. The Fox sisters had an impressive, faithful following of well-heeled, brilliant people…I really don’t think they’d be so easily duped. Apparently Margaret lived as though she believed in her gifts - she spent countless hours in cemeteries (which I used to do but have decided not to spend so much time in them anymore since I am convinced spirits can cause illness and I’m no Munchausenian.)

Of course, the fact remains that Margaret did say the whole thing was a hoax. But just because someone says a thing doesn’t make it so. This is what I think happened. Elisha Kane wanted to marry her, but feared an association with a spiritualist would make people question his values, level-headedness, and stability. These qualities were important to him as one always in pursuit of funding for his various projects and explorations. I think he convinced her to denounce spiritualism for the sake of their love, and she did it. She loved him very much, and it isn’t unfeasible to think she would give up her “career” to be with the man she so loved. Besides, there was a terrible amount of pressure for the girls to give up their “ungodly” acts of bringing forth demons and spirits. They were publicly assaulted, humiliated, and degraded by the common people. It probably wasn’t a hard decision, to say it was all a hoax, in hopes of attaining a more normal life.

Anyway, the incident at her deathbed should convince anyone that she lied about her communications with spirits being a hoax. From the previous article in my blog, the ending part:

>>>>>> In conclusion it is of interest to mention that at a meeting of the Medico Legal Society of New York in 1905 the subject of spiritualism was discussed. Mrs. Mellen, a woman doctor who is not a spiritualist, stood up and told the story of the last hours of Mrs. Margaret Fox Kane. In a tenement house in Ninth Street she passed some hours every day at her bedside. Mrs. Fox Kane was unable to move hand or foot. There was not a closet in the place nor any other hiding place of any kind. And yet the knockings were heard now through the wall, now through the ceiling, and again through the floor. <<<<<<<<

I believe the FOX sisters could and did have a natural gift for communicating with spirits. I do also suspect that they couldn’t always do it at will, and possibly DID from time to time have to come up with some magic tricks to entertain the troops.

I, for one, KNOW spirits travel on our and other dimensions, close enough that sometimes we CAN experience them - and they CAN touch us, and move our chairs, and mess with our electrical appliances… I’ll tell you an interesting little story about how I came to work in the building I currently work in. It’s the God’s truth, believe it or not. And if you don’t believe me about this you might as well stop reading now because there are things I’ve experienced that are way weirder and harder to comprehend (unless you also have similar experiences) than this mild incident. It starts with a dream. August 1998. I DREAM I am waking up in a vacant office lobby. I get up, look through the vacant suite. I look off a balcony and smell bread baking. People are milling about down below, on the streets. I go out the front door, I am upstairs, and I look down the stairs. I see the green carpet. I wake up.

Another kind of dream - self-employment. November, 1998. Julie (a friend) and I have formed a partnership to open a hypnosis center. We need an office. My friend Dolores takes me to Escondido (I live in San Diego) to a pizza place for dinner, to celebrate my entrepreneurship. We walk by an attractive office building. It’s about nine at night. I open the door and walk into the lobby (I find out later it should’ve been locked.) There are many business offices here, but I know to run upstairs and I recognize the suite I had dreamt of! Everything is the same as in my dream. I’ve never been here - except for in my dream. The particular suite is occupied by The California Indian Legal Services - CILS, for short. I am amazed and haunted by the experience. The next day I bring Julie. I don’t say anything to her about my dream, I just want her opinion. She doesn’t say much, but jots down the managers number. There don’t appear to be any vacancies, but you never know, he may have connections, we figure. As we leave I ask her, “What do you think?” She looks at me and says, “I can’t get it out of my head. It’s like we have to have it. I’ll call tomorrow.”  She calls and guess what? The owner says, “why as a matter of fact we do have a vacancy coming up.”  Apparantly CILS had bought a new building and were scheduled to move out end of December. Julie and I were scehduled to open our doors first of January. Perfect timing. And it all started with a dream - literally (AND figuratively I guess) speaking. By the way, our carpet is green, we really have a balcony, we’re located in a busy downtown area, and there is a French Bakery next door!

Thats all for now.

Hypnotically yours,  Gina Fox
